Sorry for the lack of new... new... new posts. rustic rooster has made a goal for 2011... It's to  clean out the back work garage & start fresh.  We would like all of our older pieces {2010 & earlier} to be painted. What happens is we get so many new pieces of furniture & fast that some pieces just get pushed to the back & become hidden. They're fabulouse. but just over looked. Well, not anymore! We're pulling them out & painting them asap. Our buying has been on hold till they're all done. So far so good... Man does that feel good. I just found the most adorable blog over at Pink Wallpaper last night. {yes, I was on a major blog hunt... I have a game. I look for the funniest or weirdest blog name, click on it with my eyes closed, then pray that it will be a good one. Don't judge...lol} Well, This one is 100% a winner in my eyes!Ya my game worked {shhhh don't judge}. She has captured a look that doesn't leave me... I really like her style, feel & mood. I know I go on blogs or websites take a peek, read what they have to say... Chuckle for a minute, but move on. I stayed on this blog for a while last night. Then when I woke this morning & noticed that Simply Seleta found her too. Go check out, it's mary ruffle {here}! I think you will enjoy her pictures & posts. By the way go play my blog game... better late than never...

I'm so honored that I've been nominated by Kelley over at The Polished Pebble for the Stylish Blogger Award.Thank you very much! To be honest with you I don't think I've ever been nominated for anything. Really? So you can imagine my excitement sitting at the computer when I read I was nominated. I wanted to run around the house & scream, but of course I couldn't because my two little ones were still asleep. I've been reading Kelley's blog since the beginning of my blogging days. Her style & humor are very dear to me... Thanks Kelley!

 Well, here I go...

1.) Gave birth to my son in 13 minutes all natural... It was the most amazing experience of my life. No joke after he was out & in my arms... I was speechless. The entire time after he was born I kept saying, OH my gosh I did it. WOW! I did it all natural & in 13 minutes. Then I thought they were going to send me home because I didn't have any drugs in me. I asked the nurse, Is it time for me to go home now? They all just laughed & said, no you can relax now. I'm still impressed with myself!

2.) My 5th cousin is Thomas Alva Eidson who invented the light bulb. Knowing that my family has some brains... Keeps me ticking! I'm still trying to find mine. Just kidding!

3.) My husband & I bought our first home at the height of the real estate market... Ah well... My determination to buy a home overcame me. I did get what I wanted... Debt! lol I guess we have to turn our property into a rental now. Anyone want to rent it?

4.) From the moment I graduated from College I've been a business owner. I can't imagine working for anyone else or doing anything else...  I love being an interior designer & a furniture store owner.

5.) If I had to say I was addicted to anything it would be diet coke. I love diet Coke... The bubbles, the cool refreshing taste when it goes down... OK I was having a moment. I love you Diet Coke F.O.R.E.V.E.R! I know it's bad for me!

6) I set a goal to run a marathon & did it! It was pretty challenging, but I made it happen. Hello, if Oprah could do it so could I. That was my theory. I will never forget that day... Running a marathon has helped me set goals later in life. I'm very happy I did it!

7.) I love to laugh & get silly! I see humor in so many things. I think laughing & being silly help me stay young & playful with my children, family & definitely in my career... & yes half the time I'm probably not funny at all but, Ah well... At least I'm still smiling!

a girl can dream

One day when I grow up I want one of these lovelies in my kitchen! My husband just laughs at me... I'm sure because of the price. Glass door front restaurant refrigerators can start at $13,000... Back off Sean, I'm saving my money! This refrigerator is coming home with me! What do you think? Would you take the glass door fronts over the solid ones? I love to organize & stay very clean in my kitchen... So, I think I could pull this off! At least I would know right away if I needed to go to the market or not. Hiding things from my children would be hard though... But, it's all about me {lol}!

One of my dear friends, Nancy, is an amazing photographer, crafter, artist, mother, friend, wife... Therapist, etc.! She's so much fun to be around. Her laugh & excitement for life is extremely contagious. No Joke! She made the rooster chicks a 2011 calender for Christmas that we're in love with. Thanks Nancy so so much! Here's one of her photos in the calender. I love the texture, color & I especially love that it's artichokes. I could see this image blown up in a kitchen. Definitely something to talk about... Or done as an oil painting in a living room. I think this photo has a future... Hmmm where else could it go? Nancy Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve {inside joke} you're an amazing woman! We love you to pieces!!!!!!! Thanks for being a rooster chick & great photo!!!!

pretty simple

I don't like a lot of frills in the kitchen... Call me boring, but simple in my mind really is the way to go. I like everything white, open & very clean. Yes, with a splash of color here & there, but the over all look for me is pretty simple {wink}!

I completely forgot I ordered this book, Farrow & Ball, The Art of Color, months ago. Have you ever done that? The box arrived at my office & I was clueless... No joke! I thought I got fabric samples or a gift. Well, this book sure made my day! Now, I'm going to go & devour each & every page... From top to bottom.

I've been inspired to paint the bar stool's in my interior design office a F&B color... I want something fun & different in there. Keep you posted on that little project.

OK so we have a little time {May 14th}... But, I wanted to announce it now!

The Encinitas 5K 2011 is coming!

My daughter, Taylor, really would like to run this year with me. I told her all about it last year & how much fun mommy had {remember here}. I couldn't believe how family oriented & involved it was. It wasn't all about the fast pace of a race it was about laughing, chatting & getting out with friends & family. Loved it! So Taylor & I are going to start training now. I'm sure you're all asking why start now... Hello, she's 4 1/2... Taylor needs time to run, learn & build up her mileage. lol Of course I'm not going to have her run the entire race. She can do what she wants. But, it's nice to talk about fitness with her... Get her heart racing & a little sweat going. Something all children should be doing... Being active! Come join me & my family & friends get active & run the Encinitas 5K with us... I'll keep you posted as the event gets closer. Plus, I love supporting my town! Go Encinitas Go!

where the buffalo roam...

OK call me crazy, but I want to add buffalo checks everywhere right now! I've been watching Selling New York lately {I have about 50 shows saved on my DVR... Because I clicked the wrong button on record & it's been recording every episode... New, old & repeat! Great!} & on one of their episodes a loft had buffalo checks on the drapery & couches, etc. Hmmm its made me think... I'm adding it into my next new project that I'm working on! OH I love it! Well, I presented this morning & I'm a green light go!

Remember this post {here}... Well, we are 99% done with this bathroom. Just a few finishing touches need to go in & wa la we're all done. This project has been so much fun for me because it's taken me out of my traditional box. Always an adventure... Definitely challenging... But, fully rewarding for me as a designer!
