before & after: gut job

Designing a girls bathroom can be very tricky. You need to find the correct  ingredients... Not too mature, not too young & definitely not too girly. Especially since I'm dealing with blossoming young ladies. Hope that's OK to say... One just started driving & one is off to college. So they're definitely growing up...  I did both of the girls rooms a little while back, so they trusted me to run with this bathroom. My client always wanted to re-do this bathroom, but never really made it a priority. Then finally the unthinkable happened... A major water leak. If that's not going to get the ball rolling I don't know what else is. 

         

Here are  the before pictures. Nothing has been altered or staged... {wink} The problem with this bathroom was lack of storage & of course it was out dated. After I hemmed & hawed over the direction I wanted to go with the bathroom... I came up with a plan centered around this floor tile.

Ta Dah... Here she is all done & pretty!

Everything was custom designed &  picked out just for this room... I wanted a more sophisticated look for the girls, since they're getting older. The sconces still kept a feminine feel with it's curved neck.  I love how this cabinet turned out. It's even better in person! It now offers the girls tons of storage to hide all their "stuff".  Of course at any age we can make a mess... So the best solution is a cabinet with doors & drawers & of course good old baskets. Who wants to see curling irons, hair dryers... etc.? I know I want my bathroom clean & super organized. You never know when you might have an  unexpected house guest. Close  the doors &  drawers &  your secret is hidden.

I enclosed the shower in with a pony wall to give the girls more privacy. Plus, I added a custom bookcase with adjustable shelves to store more goodies... It worked out perfectly! Before they used to just have a towel bar. I know less is best, but when it comes to storage take the plunge & add it.

I'm loving the way this office space is starting to turn out! Remember this post {here}... When I purchased a few things for my clients... Well, here's the bookshelf in its new home. The prints that I picked up are old geological maps. They're going to be re-matted & framed in big white chunky frames to match the paneled walls. Having so much white in a room you need big things on a wall... You need to ground the room. Things start to look like they’re just floating away & getting gulped up by a sea of white. Just wait till you see the other wall when it's done. That's a WOW factor!

Their is much more in the room, but I want to surprise you later with that. I will say that their is a fiddle leaf fig to the right of the wall... That the leaves match the maps perfectly. How funny a tree can pull an entire room together... Hey, I'm not complaining at all!

 

Can't wait till this room is complete. Its looking so good... I do have to say I love the metal crates as well. They're perfect for keeping a room organized! I'll be back with the afters hopefully soon! Hope everyone has a fabulous Sunday... It's gorgeous out! OK, here's the low down... {one} I just installed the most amazing living room today. Let me say this again, MJ are you listening? A.M.A.Z.I.N.G {i'm doing a cheer pose right now}! Remember this post here... Well, after months & months of waiting for the sofa fabric to come in... It finally did! Thank Goodness...  It was well worth the wait! The living room is all done & looks wonderful. {two} I got another huge lecture from my client... She told me that I need to post afters. I know, I know, I know. If you only understood how crazy I am right now, that the minute I sit down at my desk in the office I'm usually whisked off to a meeting or I'm on the phone & then when I'm at my desk at home my kids drag me away... Plus, I think Blogger hates me sometimes. I post a picture & then It does something weird. So my frustration sets in & I walk away. I know you all are chuckling to yourself & agreeing with my client. OK! I'm on it... I really am!

By the way I used for the 1st time ever a cowhide for an accent piece in the room... I'm in love! It grounded the room & added an extra element/texture to the room. Last but not least... I wore the appropriate shoes on this install. ha ha My vintage boots... As I was sitting chatting with my client we noticed that I fit right in with the cowhide. Thanks y'all!

I found an old ottoman for a client a little while back... I knew it would be perfect in their house. The size & style legs were just what I had been looking for! This ottoman had a future {home}! After pricing out new custom made ottomans I couldn't pass this one by for the price point.  All it needed was a little elbow grease & voila, a new ottoman would be born!

Isn't she pretty!?!?! This new &  improved ottoman was re-upholstered, re-filled on top & the legs were just cleaned up. I love it!

If you have something old in your home... Don't throw it away! {STOP} Look at it & analyze all the things you can do with it. Re-upholster, slipcover, paint or even stain it... A little TLC can't hurt anything! The rooster loves re-purposing old pieces! {wink}

Good morning everyone! I want to share a fun little before & after project I did in Solana Beach. I worked on this home a few months back & it was definitely a fast one.  No joke! I couldn't turn it down because I had worked with this client on her previous home {here}, & I  adored working with her!  

 

I had to have  everything picked &  installed within 3 weeks  because the clients had sold all of their furniture in the sale of the home. Then, they left for NY to take their daughter to College. I wanted this new home to be a new start in their life! Their new adventure {kids out of the house}. I wanted them to feel so comfortable  when they walked in for the 1st time. The only real guide I had was that she loved the look of the living room I did at the Pacific Station {here}.

Adding nautical touches helped keep the seaside retreat alive. My client loves the coastal feel & in her last house we added blue & white touches throughout. The perfect accent! I didn't want to remove the blue & white accents for the new home, but I wanted to try something a little different... I feel that this was a great mix. Seaside meets traditional home!

  

I was in Santa Barbara when my clients came home... You can't even imagine the pressure I had on my shoulders that whole  car ride up to SB. Would they like it? What are they saying? Did they get home yet? When I received the text, stating that I was an angel... Thank you, I started to cry. That feeling of relief is indescribable. I truly wanted my clients to be happy & love it all... & I did just that! Hope you enjoyed my before & after shots this morning... Happy Saturday!
