run daddy run

The Scully family had another exciting weekend here in San Diego... My husband, Sean, ran the Rock 'n' Roll 1/2 Marathon. Yaaaa I can't tell you how excited I was for him. My husband is a very determined & extremely driven man {really, no joke}... So when he signed up for this race it was game time! I asked if he was going to run with all the pro's... ? ha ha ha He had a few little obstacles in the way while training, kids sick, massive work load, foot injury & one more little thing that he would shoot me if I disclosed that info to you all {some of you know}.... But he didn't back down he followed through & ran that race... & kicked butt!

I know that this post isn't about me at all, but in 2003 I ran the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. WOW... that was the most amazing experience I have ever had beside giving birth... So when Sean was running I was overwhelmed with emotion. I would cry almost every 2 minutes {shhh behind my sunglasses} & then let out a huge scream of joy! Sean you rock!

On Saturday we had to go down to downtown San Diego to the Convention Center to pick up Sean's bib...etc.

It was a gorgeous Saturday... Everything was just perfect! Sun shining, bird chirping, trains tooting... & people smiling everywhere!

People were coming into the Convention Center by the truck load. I was a little nervous because I had Mr. Ryan with us. I watched him like a hawk... Sean watched Taylor.

Cheerleaders were cheering, Elvis was rocking... Cute tush! I wonder if he works out... {wink}

Daddy checked in with Mr. Ryan... Ryan was fascinated with everything.

Sean still checking in...

I had a moment again... A couple of tears dropped here. How crazy is that. I think it was the music, tight pants & all the spirit in the room! Hope no one saw my emotions coming out...

Few questions were asked... Yes I'm Sean... Yes, my wife is Alexandra who owns the rustic rooster. Haa haa I'm just kidding.

Ryan found the Rock 'n' Roll guitar floor decal. We had to stay here for a little while. Boring! That guitar was so cool to him!

Then Ryan was off...

He's gone...

Stop Ryan... Hello wait for us!

I loved this big truck...
Happy Feet... Happy Run!
The man the myth the legend... SEAN SCULLY!
Now it's race day... Sunday, June 6th.
I dropped Ryan off at my parents house Sunday morning... Then Taylor & I drove down to Seaworld to meet Sean at the finish line. I was so scared & nervous that I was going to miss him. OK ... I have to tell everyone this little info. So you can understand why I was scared & nervous I was going to miss Sean... When I ran my Marathon, Sean rode his bike next to me the entire race. Told me when to drink & eat. He helped me stretch & talked me through my tough moments... Then my close & very dear friend Laura Fairchild ran next to me for about a mile... Sean handed her his bike & ran/walked the rest of the way with me till I finished. Oh he even made a t-shirt that said, GO ALEX! Hello that's love & dedication... So If I missed his 1/2 Marathon. I would have just died!!!!
Taylor & I made it! I think I dragged her about a mile through the runners & sidelines... Looking for him. I was literally in a panic that he had finished. I kept saying to Taylor... Do you see him? Oh Where's daddy...?
They had a fence that separated them {runners} from us... So I started panicking more! Where is he?
Then we saw him... He did it!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw my husband, lover, best friend cross the finish line!!!!
{sorry the picture of him crossing the finish line didn't turn out well... a little blurry & angled}
He was so tired & his foot hurt him a little but he did it!
We followed him to go & get his bag of clothes. He was a little slow. That didn't matter to me because he kicked ass!
Thank Goodness in all the chaos I brought cash... because I saw a rickshaw on the side. I flagged this guy down & we jumped in. I didn't want Sean & Taylor to walk another mile back to the car. It was perfect for all... Taylor loved it, Sean was at peace, our driver got money & I felt very happy!
As we were being driven back to the car {as close to it as we could get}... We watched the marathoners run by. What a beautiful place to run a marathon. I love San Diego!
Taylor & daddy...
Look how many people were running... AWESOME! I believe over 30, 000 people entered!
I so wanted to get in & run with everyone...
Taylor had so many questions for daddy...
{don't you just love her outfit... she dressed herself!}
More questions... It was pretty cute to hear him answer her.
Now Sean's safe at home... & feeling great! He said he can't wait to do another one.

So Mr. Scully if you're patient with me I just might do one with you...
I've got the SCULLY workout bug in me too!

So the Scully family had a wonderful weekend... I wouldn't change it for the world.
Congratulations to my husband Sean for running
the Rock 'n' Roll
1/2 Marathon!
I LOVE YOU SEAN!
{you inspire me to work hard & stay very driven}

I would like to introduce my running partner... Can you see him? He's my strength right now. On Sunday our run was supposed to be 2 1/2 miles.... Well, I wanted to stop at 2. He helped me go further. I felt like I was going to have an asthma attack & fall over on the treadmill. No biggie! I ran that extra half a mile for HIM {Sean, I love you}! He saw this pictures & thinks that he runs so fast that his image cannot be captured on camera. Think what you want to think Mr. Scully! Mrs. Scully is fast too....

{1} start day

Well, Today's the day I start my training... You ask for what? Yes, the Coney island hot dog eating contest, Yummy! Just kidding! I'm really serious about this losing weight, looking & feeling great thing. I'm in my 30's & I feel like life is passing me by because of my workload, involvement with the kids & insecurities {weight}... So I'm doing this for ME! ME ME ME I need to training for a 1/2 marathon & eat right. I think I told you all that I ran the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll marathon a long time ago... But, I didn't train correctly. I completed the marathon, but not on top of my game. When I hit 20 mile mark... WOW did I hit the wall. I used to run in college & then after, but after the rock 'n' roll marathon it turned me off from running. I hated it... Now I'm back. I feel my fat just jiggle away {sorry Oprah moment}. So this time I want to do it right, the correct way. I'm kind of excited about it... 2 babies, a husband & an awesome business later I'm going to do it!
I'm going to start training with my cousin/running partner Polly. We have always leaned on each other to work out & run. She ran the marathon with me & kicked butt. She did soooooo well! Go Polly... Go Go Go {Polly has a husband & 4 babies}! She found us a boot camp for our off days of running. It's in Encinitas. I think it will be great! I know I'm all talk now, but I really want to prove/show you all I can do it!!!
I still have to pick the 1/2 marathon to run. Hmmmm I've looked at a few. Here's what I've come up with:
1.) Hyannis, Cape Cod - 1/2 Marathon
2.) Santa Barbara - 1/2 Marathon
3.) Maui - 1/2 Marathon
4.) Kona - 1/2 Marathon
That's where I've stopped looking right now... But, I'm not done yet. Do you have any recommendations of 1/2 marathons. I really don't want anything hilly. I think the Santa Barbara one will be because of the Santa Ynez mountains. I have to do more research... Maybe on a secrete romantic getaway with the hubby to the Bacara. Wouldn't that be nice! All for the research...
Now, you all know my little burning desire...
Hey, maybe the rooster should start a running club & we meet in front of the rooster to all train together. OH MY GOSH.... That sounds fun! Should we? Would any of you do it? If we get more than 10 people maybe we should. Make a "comment" if you would like to & that will determine if we should....
Have a happy day today!

tell all

OK so I'm going to pull an Oprah moment on you & tell all {be real}... Hey we only live once lets be truthful & honest while we're here. I'm very open like that! well, here I go... I got the boots. I've been reading the fashion magazines, watching TV {best I can} & have seen all the girls wear skinny jeans & tall boots on the streets... I envy them so much. So last week I got an e-blast from J-Crew {my favorite store} saying HUGE sale, extra 30% off sale price, plus free shipping . Well, I did It, I bought these boots:

Aren't they beautiful. I didn't want to take them off yesterday evening. I was so frustrated because I didn't have the right jeans for them. I wanted to see everything perfectly together. But, here's the real truth... I'm so nervous because I'm not super skinny. I have curves yes on the back side especially. My thighs have never been apart I feel since the day I was born. I have tried to separate them but they have such a bond {sisterly love}. Hmmm what's a girl to do. So now I need to get some skinny jeans like these:

But, here's another thing...
In order for me to really look good & get into these jeans I need to train for a 1/2 marathon so I can lose the weight. I've been running & trying to eat right... So far it's been good, but I know I need to really train. My weight usually just falls off. I can do it! Do I want the jeans & boots bad.... I can do it! I ran a marathon once {SD Rock & Roll} & vowed never to do that again {shhh I should have trained harder}. I kicked butt & ran the 1/2 so easy & well. That was a breeze for me. I think I can do it again. Here's my fear I have 2 kids now, married & run my own business. Do you think I can juggle all that & train? I want to say yes, but am scared to sound like a flake... What would you all do?
I need to fit in the Skinny jeans & look good... Not smooch & squeeze myself in them & then cover up with a long sweater...etc.. I need to go all the way & look good. I can do this! I can! Yes!
What's your advice?
Have you ever done something like this...
I know I'm not alone!
Tell all!
