are you ready for love day?

What are you going to wear on L.O.V.E.day?

 I know I'll add a little POC {pop of color}... For LOVE day! I'm not a head to toe theme dresser. I think it's cute for my kids... But I feel a little socially and mentally awkward getting too into it. POC's are nice... Subtle, but definitely striking to ones eye.

off to work i go...

YAAAA a kitchen/family room remodel!
I just love ripping apart a room and putting it all back together... New and improved!  This kitchen/family room  has the perfect bones {layout}, but needs a definite face lift. Shhh it was a little dated {wink}. Hey, we all need a little TLC once in a while. I'm definitely giving this room a new look and a new feel. New counters, new lighting, new cabinets, new hardware, new furniture... OH my!

I'll post the progress on this job... My client is an absolute joy to work for! We're both right on the same page about everything!

OK... Off to work I go!

photo shoot {interior design}

Last week was definitely a wild one for me...  I'm just now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank goodness! I finally photographed a master bath and closet that I designed. No joke I could move right into this bathroom. It turned out exactly the way my client and I wanted it! Here's the {post} I did a while back on the before of this room. Watch out, they're pretty funny!

Look forward to showing you how this room turned out...

are you feeling it...

I'm feeling a bit dramatic this evening! Kind of typical of me when the weather changes! Sorry! The weather here in Southern California is so chilly! All I want to do is curl up by the fire and read my book {Happiness Project}. All these pictures represent winter warmth for me...  The old wood floors, dramatic and deep flowers in a vintage tin, stunning Cartier watch and yummy hot coco and a sugar donut. I'm done for the evening! I'll take it all... Wrap it up!

red velvet pancakes...

Red Velvet Pancakes

{Valentine's Day Breakfast}

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
2 large eggs
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons red liquid food coloring

Sweet Cream-Cheese Butter
Garnish: powdered sugar

Preparation

Sift together first 6 ingredients into a large bowl. Whisk together buttermilk and next 3 ingredients in another bowl. Gradually stir buttermilk mixture into flour mixture just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour about 1/4 cup batter for each pancake onto a hot buttered griddle or large nonstick skillet. Cook 3 to 4 minutes or until tops are covered with bubbles and edges look dry and cooked. Turn and cook 3 to 4 minutes or until done. Place in a single layer on a baking sheet, and keep warm in a 200° oven up to 30 minutes. Serve with Sweet Cream-Cheese Butter.

Note: When using a griddle, heat it to 350°.

Tip: For tender pancakes, don't overmix the batter; it should be lumpy.

little girls bathroom {interior design}

I was recently approached by Barn Light Electric to show them all the rooms and exteriors that I've used their lighting in...  YES {how fun}! As I was going through my portfolio to find them all I saw this little girls bathroom I did a little while back. Ahhh Such great memories! Now, it's all coming back to me...

This client loved the vintage Anthro look which meets a coastal cottage  {hope that makes sense}. Talk about the perfect blend...  For a little girls bathroom. We added soft feminine colors to the room, coastal accents and Anthro touches to keep the vibe flowing. What girl doesn't love a white vintage mirror, crystal knobs and a petal pink custom step stool from the rustic rooster?!?!? Yes Please!

My client and I fell in love with this Kohler wall mounted sink. It's gorgeous in person. I did something different because I could and my client wanted to have fun! She had a permanent smile throughout the entire process. Thank you!  We had left over Soapstone from the kitchen so we used it in the girls bathroom. It was the perfect  touch to ground the room. Every time I go back to my clients home I can't help to smile when I walk by this room.

I do need to say my thank you right now to a wonderful team...
Thank you Barn Light Electric for your Coastal Sconces, Casey for being the best Contractor ever, Nacho for making a fun cabinet & dealing with all of our crazy changes we had to make, Rob over at Ferguson {4699 Mercury St.} for always laughing at me & ordering what my little heart desires!

Thank You all for making this such a fun little girls bathroom!

Now onto the girls bedroom...
Take a peek!

a tray of a day... !

 I love using trays in every room of my house and  especially in my design clients homes. They're really  perfect for everything!
Add a fresh container of your favorite flowers on a tray...
Small or big trays are perfect in a bathroom... To hold all of your perfumes and favorite toiletries. Get creative and decorative with what you put in your tray!
Trays can catch all of your books and paper goods in a living room and on an office desk! You look so organized and very educated {wink}!
A tray can be really a catch all of memories as well... Sea glass beads, candles, coral from your most resent trip to Hawaii, pictures of family friends... ! You name it, it can go in a tray!

Have a Tray of a day...
Stop by and take a peek at all of our trays!
