Office Project

My carpenter just e-mailed me these pictures of an office/guestroom that I'm almost done with. I have designed the room from top to bottom . . . The walls were bare and the room only had a sofa, drafting desk and toys in it. We added custom built-ins, caned lights, under counter lights, custom pegboard, a hanging television (for Steve to watch for ideas while he's drawing), painted the walls a coastal blue and added new chunky crown molding. Huge transformation! HUGE! It's looking amazing!

My client, Steve Breen, is an artist. He's a children's book writer, cartoonist and political cartoonist. He's sooo talented! Steve and Cathy came to me and asked for the completion of this room . . . Because Steve for the past 7 years at this house has been working at the kitchen table, Kinko's, library . . . Any where he can really get a place to draw. They said it was time that they needed organization and a perfect art room for Steve. They have 4 beautiful children that are full of life so he also needed his space to be able to shut the door . . . And say, "Quiet Time for Daddy!"

I've been working with the Breen family for over 5 years now. Once again the perfect clients . . .

Next week I'm completely accessorizing the room so I will take some good shots of the completed room. Love the progress of this room . . .

Busy Bee . . . Bzzzzzzzzz

I just started up on another NEW Interior design project this past week. It's been consuming me at the office and has actually taken over my brain . . . I can't sleep at night because all these creative thoughts are going through my mind. Very typical for me. I get so wrapped up and excited about each and every job that I get over focused and into the job. I guess it's a good thing . . . For my clients.

You would think that the kids were keeping me up at night. Nope! They're the best sleepers ever . . . Thanks to my military sleep training, "Baby Wise"! All moms who want a life and healthy happy kids should do this book. Sorry for getting of track. Opps, back to my topic.

I did their daughters room which turned out fabulous! Check out a few pictures of Tyran's room . . .

I had so much fun hanging chandeliers (at different levels) and scalloped plates, monogramming a pillow (personal touch), finding a gorgeous Mega Chintz, S. Harris Fabric, by Issac Mizrahi and having custom drapery made in a Ralph Lauren pink and white cabana stripe. The bed, duvet, pillows and even chair were custom made for Tyran. Gorgeous!

The moment Tyran and her mother, Susy, walked in the room they were speechless. I love to get that reaction from my clients. I even got a hug out of the job. Love, love, love! Thank goodness for that because I could sleep that night. I get so wrapped up in the job like it's my own home that if something goes wrong I'm very sensitive. I want it just right. I would be the one making the duvet, or painting the walls if I could! You do what you can for your clients to make things 100% perfect! If not you need to walk away from this field.

What an extremely lucky little girl!

Now her sister Jordan wants her room done too . . . Plus, Susy, also wants the family room accessorised and dining room furnished. The house is so gorgeous in Rancho Santa Fe! Such a dream job . . .

I will post the befores and fabric selections (I only give 3 fabric/furniture selections to my clients . . . you don't want it too confusing for them) for Jordan's room. I will keep you posted which one she picked. Can't wait . . . !!!!!

So Much to learn . . .

I'm SO new to this BLOG world . . . I'm trying to keep up and stay with it all. Actually a really good friend and fabulous client of mine, Alicia has been teaching me all about the BLOG world. So much to learn and do. I know I have already made a mistake on a few of my posts. I forgot to say that one kitchen was from I believe Cottage Living (soooo miss that magazine!!) and the second kitchen was taken off of Eddie Ross blog.

Please help, guide, suggest and recommend to me about BLOGGING! Sounds so funny, but I do need a little help! Plus, I would like to take my blog to another level . . . NATIONAL! Love saying that word . . . NATIONAL!!! Go rooster chick go!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today started off with a great family tradition . . . Green Pancakes. My mom used to make them for me and my brother every St. Patty's Day. Plus, she dyed our milk too. I didn't go that far this year . . . I think my little ones are still too young for that. The Leprechaun fairy came to our house as well . . . They got green beaded necklaces. Yippee!!!

I love traditions! Don't you just look forward to every Holiday. I secretly now can't wait for Easter. Hmmmm I wonder what the Easter Bunny will bring this year. That's definitely another post waiting to happen!

Fresh Kitchens

Don't you just love this kitchen! It feels so fresh and clean to me. It's not too big or too small. If you have your perfect kitchen triangle and wonderful storage you don't really need a big kitchen to cook in or entertain in at all. Just open it up by removing extra cabinets that are hanging in the way. Take cabinet doors off, add some new lights and paint your cabinets white. You will notice a huge difference in your kitchen the moment you do just that. A few easy steps and you can have this fresh kitchen . . . !!!

Here's another fabulous kitchen. It's actually a kitchen in a guest house. I would so put this in my main house. Look at that farm house sink . . . You can put so much in those single basin sinks. I did that sink so I could bath my two kids in it with ease. The best decision I made . . . Besides marrying my husband, Sean! The bamboo shades are a perfect natural accent in the room. This is another fresh kitchen!

Absolutely Perfect!

I've been just fascinated by this seaside cottage. Is it the pale blue dutch door & shutters . . . What is it? First of all you don't don't really see many of these cottages here in Southern California . . . Why? They are so adorable, classic, easy to design & build. I wish we could get more builders to wake up & realize that the stucco boxes aren't cutting it anymore.

I've noticed the houses to move super fast without question even in this market are the seaside cottages. Watch & you will notice too. Drive through your neighborhood & look at all the homes with for sale signs on the front lawn . . . What style are they? You guessed it not your seaside charmer.

My husband & I have been looking for a new home & all I keep dreaming about is this cottage. Every time we walk up to a house I try & envision my dutch door & shutters. Some yes, some no. For those who know me . . . Can't you just picture me standing on the front porch! In due time I will get my little charmer! I will keep you all posted . . .

In my interior design I love reviving old cottages. I bring the charm back that's been lost. These are the types of pictures I keep on file in my design library.

I do have to say, this cottage is absolutely perfect!

Time flies by . . .

I was looking at some old photos today & stumbled upon this one . . . Wow, I was just ready to give birth to my son, Ryan. Look how happy we all look. Ahhh spring is in the air! It was Easter day.

I'm with my two cousins, Sue & Polly & our little ones, Taylor & Gwyneth. I just love my family. I can't believe that now my son is going to be 1 years old in about 2 weeks & I feel like I just took this photo yesterday. Time flies by . . .

Perfect storage armoire

Here's a vintage piece that John, our painter, just finished painting and brought up to the rustic rooster store front. It's adorable . . . Painted White and distressed on the corners and edges. The measurements are: 17" D x 38" W x 56 1/2" H.

I can see it in a guestroom, little kids play room or bedroom even in a master bedroom for extra storage. The ideas are endless. The quality of this pieces is evident, you need two guys to move it. Very sturdy.

Sally Sells Seashells by the Seashore . . .

Don't you just love saying that! It's music to my ears . . . Because my mother’s name is Sally and we own the most adorable furniture store called rustic rooster interiors right by the seashore in Encinitas, California. My mother is my everything . . . Our seaside cottage has her classic taste and her gorgeous style. Sally is the most amazing woman I have ever known! I'm so proud and honored to have her as my mother.
