* sweet success *

Yaaaaa The girls did it!!!
They had the best... {lemonade + bake sale} in all of Encinitas! lol  Everything turned out just perfect...

Prices were set!
All pink lemonade drinks were handed out with adorable straws!

Not gonna lie... They had fresh & store bought goodies!

But, The true hit of the day besides my husbands adorable lemonade stand he built... Were these mini donuts. They were packed with a punch, but in a bite size!
Perfect for the delicate eater!

 {recipe}
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 tbsp cooking oil

{Stir dry ingredients together. Add egg, vanilla and milk and beat 1 minute with an electric mixer or vigorously by hand. Add oil and continue to beat 1 minute.}

{The instruction manual suggests oiling the donut maker before using and also spraying with cooking spray. In other words, oil this sucker up good.}

Now that we've had this SALE with all the cousins. No joke, the kids are planning their next sale. I know we need to get a little more organized {simple}. Too many choices... Plus, the kids made more money than I did {wink}. Ahhhhh what we do for our children. Watch out people I'll let you know when the next sale is!!!

a... for trying!

I really did try to paint this Lemonade stand today... Unfortunately 1.) I had to fire both of my kids from the job {getting sloppy & wild}, 2.) The wind started messing up my paper I place so nicely on the floor and 3.) I was freezing!  OK rain you had better come and go because by this weekend this stand had better be up and running... Taylor,  Ryan and their cousins will be selling fresh baked goods and ice cold lemonade! Get ready people... for one hell of a Lemonade Stand this Saturday! {wink}

and so we did it...

OK I'm not gonna lie... I was on cloud nine yesterday! My husband made my vision come true... The perfect Lemonade Stand! Yaaaa I think I'm more giddy than my kids are... As I said before I'm not a builder so I had to think extra hard and careful to make sure I designed it strong enough, safe enough and actually functional for my little ones.. And yes I got the perfect amount of wood. I did it! Yes!

My husband Sean is the real hero here! He built it all for me... And was super patient and calm the entire time. Thank you Sean... The kids and I are super thrilled with it! Now we can't wait to paint it. Unfortunately, we couldn't paint it because the weather started getting chilly and windy on the coast. Not a good combination for painting. Don't worry I will show you all the painting progress and the finished product... Of our Fab-U-Lus Lemonade Stand!

spring's in the air...

So my kids have been begging and begging me for months to make them a lemonade stand... Me a builder?!?! YES, a designer... NO, not a builder! I leave all the construction to my husband and the boys at the rooster. I dream it and wish I could build it by hand... But somehow I always mess it up somewhere. This time I'm gonna make it happen {cross your fingers}. We spent a good chunk of our afternoon at Home Depot yesterday. I got the goods. So lets see if we can actually do this! The kids and I searched the Internet for the perfect lemonade stand to build. we studied colors, styles and the overall look... Well, I think we found it!  It's absolutely  adorable.
We found this lemonade stand off of this really cute blog {here}... Today my husband and I are gonna try and make this one for Taylor and Ryan! Stay tuned... I'll let you know when the kids have their very first...

rise and shine....

- Meyer Lemon Sweet Rolls -

Soft, sweet, and delicate. These Lemon Meyer Sweet Rolls aren't quick, but gosh darnit all, they are delicious. The tangy tartness of Meyer lemons combines perfectly with these light, buttery rolls and a rich cream cheese icing that is sure to send you over the moon with wonderment.

* Ingredients:

2 cups very warm water
2 tablespoons dry yeast
2/3 cup instant nonfat dry milk
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 cup butter
1 egg
5 to 5 ½ cups all-purpose flour
Zest and juice of 6 Meyer Lemons
1 (8 ounce) block cream cheese
6 cups powdered sugar

* Directions:

1. In a large bowl, whisk together the warm water and yeast. Allow the yeast to proof by setting is aside for about 5 minutes. If a foamy layer forms at the top of the water, your yeast is ready to go!
2. Whisk in the dry milk, 1/2 cup of sugar, and salt. Add 1/2 cup of softened butter to the mixture, as well as the egg. Slowly begin stirring in the flour, one cup at a time. Add just enough flour to create a soft (but not sticky dough). Knead the dough until it becomes elastic. Drizzle a bit of olive oil over the top of the dough, place it in in a large, clean bowl, cover lightly with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for one hour.
3. Cut the risen dough into thirds. Use a rolling pin to spread the dough into a long, thin rectangle (about 1/2 inch thick). Melt the 1 cup of butter and spread approximately one-third of the melted butter over the long rectangle of dough. Sprinkle the zest of two lemons across the butter (you can sprinkle more for a lot of lemon flavor), then sprinkle 1/3 cup of sugar across the melted butter. Roll the dough up tightly, then slice into 1 1/2 inch cinnamon rolls, and transfer to a large baking sheet. Repeat until all the dough has been used.
4. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Allow the rolls to raise on top of your preheating oven for 20-30 minutes. Bake rolls in the oven for 16-18 minutes, or until the tops are a light, golden brown. Remove and frost immediately with Lemon Meyer Cream Cheese Icing.
5. For the icing, beat together all of the fresh-squeezed juice from the lemons, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until very smooth. Spread over warm Lemon Meyer Sweet Rolls. Enjoy immediately.

ENJOY!
