Good morning my readers! I hope this morning has found you all well... So far so good for me {smile}. I'm on spring break right now... In sunny So. Cal {shhh I didn't go anywhere}! The kids are both out of school, so Sean & I are having a little family time together.

We opted not to go any where this time because my kids are still at the age where they have little fights, spats, wars, screaming matches, quarrels, hitting battles... You name it they're doing it. So we feel that we really don't want to spend any money on them. It's a waste because it just stresses everyone out & we all don't have fun! I know that might sound awful to some, but I think I have spoiled my children to the hilt with too much & now they feel they are entitled to anything & everything. For example my son is walking on a fine line right now... Are you ready for this?!?! Ryan's ultimate punishment... OK He just had his 4th big boy birthday party last Saturday. His behavior {not listening & much more} on Friday at Party City was unbelievable... So 1 I first started to threaten him by taking away his party, but then realized we already paid for the jumpy {shoot} so then a friend told me a story of what she did with her daughter the day before her birthday party when she did something bad {thanks Tina}. She told her daughter that she wasn't allowed to open her presents for 1 month after her birthday party. So guess what I did... Yup you guessed it... Told Ryan that he couldn't open his present up for 1 week after his party. So far it's working. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I'm not going to spank or scream anymore. Nope! I'm doing the reverse. Taking things away very quietly & with a huge smile. I'm trying to lead a more simple life & back peddle with the kids. I wonder if it will work at all. It better... Because this momma is going to go crazy. Oh my I just realized I let you know a little too much {chuckle}! Who cares I'm such a real, open & honest person anyway. I know everyone goes through this... Maybe at different stages of their kids lives. I'm just in the thick of it. It's better to be honest than to lie. Right?

Well, it's Scully time right now. We want to relax & just stay at home. We've actually been enjoying ourselves very much. The kids have been great! Our family's been swimming, biking & laughing like crazy! Remember this post {here} Well, I'm doing it. They haven't received anything & I haven't bought anything either. I cleaned out 6 drawers from the kids room yesterday & 1 of mine. Today I'm tackling my shoes & jewelry. Man it feels good...

Here's a fabulous pancake recipe that I just made for the kids this morning for breakfast.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 egg, beaten lightly
1 ½ cups milk
2 tbsp butter, melted

Put first three ingredients in a bowl together and use a whisk to sift and mix it.
In a separate bowl, mix egg and milk, then add it to flour mix, in three parts, stirring just until smooth.
Stir in butter.
Grease a griddle or nonstick pan with cooking spray or a little vegetable oil.
Heat pan on medium for about five minutes.
Pour homemade pancake batter to form pancakes of whatever size you like.
Cook first side until bubbles form on top, about three minutes; then flip and cook other side until it, too, is brown, about two minutes.
Serve immediately with butter and syrup or hold briefly in warm oven.

Serves 4.

growing up...

I've been working with a wonderful family in Fairbanks Ranch for a while now. Well, the latest project I completed with them was their daughters room. She's currently residing in New York City living the glamours life. Ahhh to be young again! {smile} They asked me to give her room a face lift. They all felt it was time to take Peter Rabbit off the walls. I do agree with them. But, they did have one request that was dear to all their hearts... Keep the picket fence headboard. It was a father daughter project. Of course that's staying! Memories are so special to me that I appreciate it even more. They wanted a fresh new look that was simple & clean. This room really will be for short visits from their daughter, but they want her to be able to relax & enjoy her family time.

The pink balloon drapery & art work was touching, but just juvenile for a college graduate.

Shelly, had fallen in love with this yellow & blue toile she saw at a fabric store. Well then Yellow & blue toile it is!

Artwork isn't up yet... Shelly was still in New York when the install took place & she wanted to be apart of that decision. With the new simple & fresh bedding... The room looks bigger & brighter. Simplicity goes a long way. Can't wait to see what she picks out! The changes are just perfect for a grown up jet setter! {wink}

i have an idea...

I'm going to be honest with all of you... I don't know if I can pull this off. Cross my fingers I can! {wink} I want to clean a drawer/cabinet/basket a day & eliminate in & outside of my house. Not buy one thing from now until the end of May. Hmmm I wonder if I can do it. No joke as I was driving yesterday I had a mission on my mind. I get this way & can't stop. See every year for the last 3 years a bunch of friends get together at my mom's house & throw a HUGE Memorial Day garage SALE. It's so fun because every year we all try to one up each other. No joke! One person tags everything just perfectly, the other has the best stuff to sell & then the other is just the coolest dressed with apron & all. Oh & don't let me forget to tell you the only way you can join in the garage sale is... One you have to bring food to share to all the sellers & two you have to advertise about the sale {blog, tweet, craigslist, facebook... etc.} If you don't do that you aren't accepted in! So this year I want to rock & shine at the same time. Do everything bigger & better! I already started asking my kids to try clothes on... Hmmm Should I tag each pair of shoes with the correct size & amount? So much to think about. I wonder if I can pull this off. With both kids birthdays so close together {march/april} & Easter... We've been over flowing with presents. So I feel we should say good bye to the old toys & greet the new ones with more space & open arms. Then I've noticed my daughter growing like a weed the last few months. She wears a uniform everyday so I barely notice what clothes fit & don't fit. So hard. Now that they have spring break this week... I'm gonna have Taylor try on all her clothes, belts & shoes... What the heck I'll have her do socks & undies too. Oh my I'm gonna get in so much trouble by her... She hates doing that. Ryan on the other hand I wonder what he's gonna say or do?!?! Doesn't really matter... It's gotta be done! I want this sale & my house to be amazing... Eliminating gives me such a high. Don't ask why, but I love to clean things & organize things. I love drawers folded nicely, closets color coordinated & shelves shining perfectly. I wonder if it's a sickness or maybe an interior designer things or maybe the Virgo in me. Well, what ever it is I do have a crazy idea that I have to follow through with now... Since I told you all what I'm up to. No buying... Only eliminating! Watch out for the news of the HUGE Memorial Day garage SALE! It's gonna be good this year... I can tell! {smile} Hope you all had a beautiful Easter! I'm still smiling from mine! xoxo

happy 6th birthday

Well, this little lady just turned 6! I can't believe it. I keep saying it over & over again in my mind... She's 6. WOW, that's crazy! Time really does pass by so fast! Happy Birthday my sweet angel!

Taylor & my mom came up with the idea to throw a Tea party... Fancy Nancy Style! One Christmas Taylor received a fabulous Fancy Nancy entertaining book for a present which has prompted Taylor to create lavish parties for her friends & family. We love it!

My mother, no joke was the creator of everything! I pretty much showed up & played with the girls! They had boas, beautiful hats, white gloves & even made fans to keep them cool in style... Thank you mom for everything! Oh I almost forgot... Each girl got to take home a vintage hand painted tea cup as a party favor. They were beautiful...

Then my daughter raised her hands & let the real party begin... Jumpy Time! Oh what a sight to see! 12 girls in party dresses & boas jumping like wild & crazy animals. Hey, we tried to make them into little ladies! {wink}
