calling all interns

For a long time now the rustic rooster has been a big HUGE supporter of internships. I feel that my internship with Jeffrey Allen Marks {jam} saved my faith in my career! I started to doubt my major in my junior year of College because they were pushing more of the architectural side... Not saying that that's a bad thing it just wasn't my point of interest... Or should I say my calling. I was so ready to switch majors... To communications to be exact. Hmmm could you believe that! lol But, the moment I met Jeffrey, started interning for him, my love & passion for design came back in full force. Plus, Jeffrey was a perfect mentor to me... I loved working with him & eventually for him {paid} in La Jolla. Talk about an awesome 1st Job! I new I made the right decision to stay in my major... All because of my internship. Thanks Jeffrey! I can't tell you how lucky I got... I heard horror stories of my friends internships... So Sad! The problem {i think} some interior designers are crazy... So they take all of their frustration out on anyone around them... Assistants or interns. Not good! So I swore the day I graduated & started my own business I was going to have interns & help guide them through... I think I've done pretty well in that department because all my interns have come back to say HI, called for help on getting new jobs, grown pretty successful in their own careers & we've employed some of them {Hi Jenna... We LOVE you!} I'd like to give a HUGE shout out to my interns from the past... HEEEEELLLLLOOOO!
So it's that time of year again...

I'm looking for some interns to work at the rooster. I'm very flexible on hours & days... Just e-mail me alexandra@rusticrooster.com or call 760.436.2171 if your interested. We then can discuss the roosters internship further... I do have to say we are fun!!! Can't wait to interview you & get started!!!

the greatest gift of all

WOW... I'm sure tired! I just finished an interior design job in Cardiff for a fabulous family! The husband surprised his wife for Christmas to have the entire master bedroom furnished. Hello... That is the nicest thing ever! 1 point for Jeff!
I bet you're all thinking, hello it's August now... Christmas was 8 months ago. Why did it take so long? 1st everything was pretty much custom made for this client {that takes time} & 2nd some of the fabrics were on back order... So out of my control. It's super frustrating because you really can't do anything til all the fabric arrives. Plus, I don't drop furniture pieces into the home one by one... I do it all at once for the big bang effect! So that's why this job just got completed now. But, it was well worth the wait... They loved it & I did too!
HO HO HO
Merry Christmas Kerry & Jeff!

1st day...

Both of my precious babies are now in pre-school... Thank God they're together! I can't even tell you how comfortable I feel knowing that Taylor is watching over her little brother... Keeping a secret eye on him {my little informant}. Plus, Ryan is more comfortable at school knowing that his big sister Taylor is with him. I do have to say that I have picked one of the best pre-schools in my eyes. Kids By the Sea, thank you very much for making Ryan's 1st day of pre-school so welcoming & super comforting for me!

Taylor is now a dolphin... Yippie!

Ryan's a turtle... The lowest of low. Beginner of the bunch. Hey, we all have to start some where!

Look at them together... Why don't they play like this at home? Do you see Ryan's big scratch on his face. Hmmmm I wonder how he got it... "Taylor"!

Ryan made it through his first day just fine!

* Here's how Ryan did on Monday...

He did pick on one little kid {threw a car at him, twice...Ouch... Sorry Miller!}, ate 1/2 of the new girls lunch {was moved to a different table, sorry Willow... must have been good if Ryan started eating it!}, peed with his clothes on {he has to get naked at home} & let the teachers wipe him {little bit of a challenge at home as well}... Not bad for a 1st day! Lets see how he does today... Cross your fingers he stays on the straight & narrow path! Hey, Tina that wine you brought the teachers... Is perfect for them! Shhhh I think I need it {wink}!
