The rooster is closed today . . . It's a beautiful day here in Encinitas, California! Hope you enjoy your day with your family. My family, the Scully gang . . . Sean, Taylor, Ryan & myself are going to go for a walk along the coast and hopefully get breakfast burritos from Angelo's (I'm crossing my fingers. Angelo's makes the BEST breakfast burritos!). Encinitas Street Fair . . . Is coming up!

Hi Everyone . . . I just wanted to let you all know that the Encinitas Street Fair is on April 25th & April 26th , 9 to 5, this year. rustic rooster is going to be having TONS of new inventory (I really mean it!), special pricing (amazing deals you can't resist), SALE items and some more surprises on those two days. I caught Ryan sitting in the middle of all of Taylor's dress up clothes . . . OH would she be mad! I had to take this picture to save the moment and then quickly snatch Ryan up and move him off her bed . . . Oops!

New Furniture

2.) Old vintage cabinet/hutch that's been re-painted . . . Picket Fence white, Distressed.

3.) Sea foam green little dresser or nightstand . . . Original paint (rooster did not paint)

4.) This bookshelf was originally Vintage white, but it just wasn't doing it. rustic rooster re-painted it in an awesome nautical blue. Love it . . . New and improved! Look at the old post and you will be able to see the difference!

The joy of being young again. . .

I just wanted to share my adorable little guy with you all . . .

I have to remember the special things in my life, my children. Last night my son, Ryan, was trying to move this bamboo stool all over the house. He was so determined. Love that about him . . . Nothing can stop him! I laughed so hard! Ryan is now 1 years old & into everything! He thinks he's 20 & can drive. We forget how fast our little ones grow up . . . I can't believe Ryan is now moving furniture through out my entire house. He thinks it's OK too. Hello, your only 1. Ryan eats everything (has to do it by himself) & drinks milk (no more formula, Yippee!) too. Today he had orange juice for the first time. That was a sight to see! I'm so thankful for my children & love them so so much! Love you Ryan!

AHHHH . . . The joy of being young again!

Lasting . . .

OK, I think I found my next new job (I'm not looking, just having fun & dreaming) I think I would love to work for J.Crew at one time or another. Their look is so amazing! I love their ads, clothes . . . Everything! I have to give them so many compliments . . . Go J.Crew, Go! I get many interior design ideas from their ad layouts. J.Crew puts everything together so nicely. The classic look they promote is very lasting. In 5 or 10 years their clothes are still wearable & presentable. Just the image I love for my interior design . . . Classic & lasting. I understand doing the WOW factor maybe once in your wardrobe & maybe in your home . . . But, come on be real & true to yourself, it doesn't work! I have tried to wear something different & in with the "trends" but, I look like an idiot & only can pull it off for a moment (Truly a moment because it's so not me!). I do have to say with my interior design I haven't done that yet . . . I go with what's classic & lasting . . .

Mom & I hope you & your family had a wonderful Easter Sunday . . . !

Spending time with the family is our number one priority & love. Our day was filled with family, friends, love & laughter . . . & TONS of yummy food! I'm still full. Yesterday was such a gorgeous day . . . We were so happy the it wasn't raining so the kids cold hunt for Easter eggs. Perfect! Plus, I even got a little color on my face (much needed).

A must have!

I love shell driveways! You never see them here in California. I can picture it now . . . Every time the kids and myself go to the beach or when we go on a tropical vacation we bring shells home and then throw them on the driveway. Something to talk about! When I would visit the East Coast I loved hearing the shells crunch under my car or feet. I don't know why, but I love that sound . . . It's a must have!

The rustic rooster has been pretty BUSY lately . . . Our furniture pieces have been flying out the door. Yes! On Saturday we were slammed and everything in the rooster basically sold. It was pretty funny because the rooster looked so empty and sad. No we are NOT going out of business . . . The rooster is here to STAY! We're just keeping our prices low and are being super smart during these economic times. Well, we're trying to be at least . . .

I took some picture of new pieces that just arrived today and more pieces are coming in . . . TODAY (this afternoon). Plus, we have a garage full of pieces that are un-finished and ready to be painted. You should take a peek at those so you can choose your color or even bring in your own color. FUN!

What's the right MIX?

It's like a drink . . . A little bit of rum, cranberry & pineapple juice & sprite . . . Wa La you have the perfect, " Summer Breeze!" Ok that's my creation. All my friends make fun of me. But, It's soooooo good that I don't care! Try it . . .

Ok . . . This kitchen consists of Calcutta Marble, soft sage green painted cabinets, classic faucet, and wide open space! Wa La you have the perfect, "Classic kitchen!" The rosemary is such a wonderful touch in a kitchen too . . . I know that the lemon tree is all staged for the shot but it looks sooooo good! Try it . . .

I have a little confession to make . . .

I'm in LOVE with Lands' End, tote bags! If I could I would have a tote bag all over my house! I kind of do. My husband just laughs at me, but they're perfect for everything! Shhhh, I even had a tote bag monogrammed that says, Toys . . . For the kids room. I think my next move will be a tote bag for toilet paper in the guest bathroom. Great idea, but Sean would really kick me out if I did that!

Out with Old in with the New

When My husband and I bought our home I had a "huge" issue with our fireplace. It was off center, flat and dirty looking. Of course, I wanted to paint it right away and he looked at me like I had just killed his whole family . . . All he said to me is, "You can't paint brick." Well, our second child was on the way and I cringed every time I looked at the fireplace. Nothing made it pretty and I really mean nothing! Not even flowers or a huge picture (trying to cover the ugly thing up). Nothing! Every time someone would come over I would always make an excuse for it. After the 100th excuse I was done. Plus, my hormones from my pregnancy were kicking in and I put my foot down and said were painting it and adding a mantel. This is the ugliest fireplace I have ever seen and it embarrasses me. He didn't a make a face or even a comment. Thank goodness, Few!

So Delicate . . .

Mom ordered the most beautiful shell mirrors . . . We have sold all of them except this one. We love it so much that we wanted to share it with all of you. Such a perfect accent for "any" room . . . Bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, entries and even in a closet. Mom said, she liked the fact that each shell was hand placed . . . It's so delicate looking!

Hmmmmm . . . Should we order some more?

Grow, Grow, Grow

I'm so proud of myself . . .

I have been in charge of watering the flower box at the store. I usually over water and kill everything in sight but, not this time! I'm talking to the flowers, pulling weeds, getting rid of snails . . . etc. They look so happy and healthy. I'm so impressed that my system is working. YES!!!

This isn't a joke . . . Walk by the rooster and you can see for yourself! I swear . . .
