YAAAA a kitchen/family room remodel! 

I just love ripping apart a room and putting it all back together... New and improved!  This kitchen/family room  has the perfect bones {layout}, but needs a definite face lift. Shhh it was a little dated {wink}. Hey, we all need a little TLC once in a while. I'm definitely giving this room a new look and a new feel. New counters, new lighting, new cabinets, new hardware, new furniture... OH my! 

I'll post the progress on this job... My client is an absolute joy to work for! We're both right on the same page about everything!

Last week was definitely a wild one for me...  I'm just now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank goodness! I finally photographed a master bath and closet that I designed. No joke I could move right into this bathroom. It turned out exactly the way my client and I wanted it! Here's the {post} I did a while back on the before of this room. Watch out, they're pretty funny!

I don't know about you, but pretty much everyday I walk around my house moving and adjusting things. Let's just say it's like a nervous tick. I have two sides to me... 1.)  very traditional and 2.) beach cottage.  I love combining the two styles. As you can see I love seascapes and botanicals.  I have a fabulous collection of gingers jars all over my house as well.  Don't you just love how I displayed my necklaces. It's the easiest place for me to see and grab them when I'm getting ready for work. Thank goodness Sean doesn't say a word... I have no clue where I would put them. Our bed is my heaven. I went with a white denim slip covered headboard. It's perfect because down the road if I ever want to change our room color or pillows I can... Because I haven't locked myself into one color. Well, here's a little peek into my world... Hope you enjoyed it!

I feel kind of pretty & feminine looking at these interiors spaces. Pastels just bring the inner girl out in me. I'm drawn to the calmness & simplicity of it all. I don't think I could do it at my house {the husband} but would love to do it for my little girls room. What do you all think? Could you do it in your home?

When you're hired by someone who trusts you & truly believes in you... You feel very special. You want to work hard & shine for them.  No joke... My client makes me feel like a Queen when we have meetings. Who doesn't want to feel like a Queen. Thanks D! I hope you love your new family room?!?! I know I could sure move in. {smile}

We started this process a little while back. Unfortunately, we had a little fabric issue... Not once but, twice. This happens... If I could I would be weaving the fabric myself in the back office. Oh my gosh that would be a sight to see. So of course this project got a little delayed. It all worked out in the long run. The room looks fabulous. Here's a before picture of the family room...

She wanted color. She wanted clean lines. She wanted  classic bones mixed in with contemporary elements. She wanted a  traditional feel that meets simplicity.  Most of all she didn't want clutter... I've come up with Classic lines meets a pop of transitional fun.

Listening to a client is key. I'm not going to be living in your home. I want you to be happy & if you're not happy... I'm not happy. Stay tuned a gorgeous Abacus chair is arriving shortly... {love}  Plus, I look forward to designing more rooms in your home. We're having way too much fun!

& then this was installed today! Oh my gosh... I'm absolutely thrilled.  It looks gorgeous! OK picture this... I was creeping up the stairs like a little kid  waiting for Santa. Turned the corner & walked in the bathroom.  I screamed thinking no one was on the job sight! Oh little did I know my tile guy was laying tile in the corner. He was hidden! Well, lets just say I scared him & he scared me. Today has been a good day! 

    

I'm definitely moving right along with this interior design job. Can't wait to show you more... Stay tuned.

I've been researching kitchens left & right lately... Because I'm remodeling a 1950's kitchen for a client. The bones of the kitchen I'm working with are absolutely fabulous, but the appearance is definitely outdated. It just needs a little tlc. Really that's all... Usually, I want to gut kitchens & start from scratch, but this one's an actual keeper. 

I  was looking through my sources of kitchens on my computer &  found this one {above} & almost fell over.  This kitchen & the one I'm designing look so similar.  I know the coloring is different... But, the bones feel the same to me. I think really its the layout... Too funny!

Now, it's all about the little details... For example countertop, lighting, blinds, area rug & accessories {oh my}! She's going to look so pretty!  Keep intouch & I'll show you the after...

Why do people make dining rooms so formal & overdone nowadays? To impress people? To feel grand &  important?  Well, in my design I try to make them extremely livable & comfortable. To be honest with you...  You just might find a shoe or a toy truck under my table if you must know {wink}. Most people like to sit & talk for hours in their dining rooms. I've seen homework done in these rooms or even art projects spread over the entire table.  Having everything so pristine & perfect just doesn't fly with me or my clients. I love using different textures, woods &  colors. I create the perfect mixture. We all need to be able to live in each room of our homes. Hello we have kids &  pets. Here's a dining room I completed.  My photographer just sent me the proof. All I want to do is sit down with a cup of coffee & relax in this room right now...  Well, since it's late I'll take a large glass of milk! we're back!

Hi everyone! Oh my it feels like a lifetime since I've blogged. hi hi hi It's so good to be back! As many of you  know the rustic rooster shuts down Christmas day though New Years. We've done this every year for 12 years now. It's a rooster tradition... I know it might frustrate some, but it's really the best time for us to spend time with family & friends. Plus, we get to re-charge our mind, body & souls! Damn it feels good! I love our tradition! I'm just getting back into the office today... Definitely ready to work. Here are some fabulous photos that have inspired me this morning... Cheers!
