Artwork is very special to each individual... You need to guide your client in the correct direction to coordinate a room. I struggle with this because I feel artwork is all in the eye of the beholder. Who am I to say your art work is awful when it might mean so much to you. What I select might not be my clients favorite. I can only push so far. Thank goodness I have been very lucky in the artwork department. Now with that said, I'm finishing up an office space {here} that art work is being selected... I can't get this photo out of my mind. Is it the classic black & white prints?   The organized crisp white frames? The pop of hot pink color? Chrystal chandelier? What is it? My gut tells me I’m going in the right direction. Are you attracted to this picture?

Please don't be mad at me... I can't find the before pictures of this job. I'm so sorry! With this project we opened up the wall to the staircase & added a rail.  The moment we did this the room dramatically took a turn for the best! It felt more alive & vibrant. Just opening up a minor wall can make a huge difference in a room... Try it I think you'll like {love} it! 

My client has a contemporary anthropology style mixed in with a classic traditional style...  Talk about a great blend!    I selected a  reclaimed wood farm table mixed in with Tolix metal chairs & old classic Windsor chairs. Just the right mix. I don't know if you noticed, but look at the legs on the farm table... It's a straight  chunky leg. That's another contemporary element that compliments the Tolix chairs. With all the white walls, trim & paneling I felt that the larger pendent light was perfect! It was just the right touch that didn't take the attention away from everything else in the room... I love how Anthropology met rustic rooster & became fast friends!

Wouldn't you just love an office space that was designed just for you & only you... I know I sure would.  Well, MJ I do have to say you're one lucky lady. I hope you close many deals in this office {I get 10%... wink}! Coming up with a design plan & completely re-vamping the room from head to toe has been pretty thrilling! Walls, paint, window treatments, lighting, furniture, accessories, dog beds... Oh my! I know the end result will take your breath away... a day to remember

Every time I remember where I was & what I was doing on 9/11 it sends chills down my spine. I close my eyes & think of all the pain & suffering  that people went through on that day. I can't even believe someone would do something so heartless & evil.  My heartaches for all that have lost! I will say a little prayer to lighten the pain & bring sunshine & joy to your life. I will never forget... Today is a day to remember how strong we are & we will survive!

One of my bathroom remodels is coming to an end this month... Basically this project was a complete gut job. The bathroom had a water leak... So of course we had to take pretty much every ounce of drywall off & re-plumb the room. Hey, I'm not complaining. It looks wonderful. I took a left turn on my design skills verses my usual right turn. Here's a little peek at some of the bathrooms highlights... 

 

 

Need to buy towels, hang towel bars & pictures... Then lay the bath mat & VOILA I'm all DONE! Stay tuned... I'm having it photographed  then I'll show you all!

I do have to say that I've realized in the past couple of months that I'm doing something wrong! I really need to open up & talk more about all my interior design projects that I'm doing or I've done. Plus, I got "the" call from my brother... He advised me that I need to start showing my after photos. OK, OK, OK! It hit home & I realized he was completely right. I hate it when he's right {just kidding}.  So with all that said, here's the before & after shots...

This one room just sat empty & bare with a few overstock pieces of furniture & accessories in it for about a year. My clients lost steam & design ideas. They were at a complete loss.  The living room had so much potential, but just need a little face lift. The placement of the built-ins were perfect, but the mantel design was all wrong. It was a true eye soar when you walked in.

After analyzing the direction of the room...  I decided to reface/design the mantle &  add texture behind the bookcases.

 

This room definitely now stands out & screams "come on in & sit down!" This family's entertaining level went up 10 notches after I completed the room... Hope you enjoyed my before & after shots. More design jobs to come. 

multi tasking...

Yesterday, was one of those days...  I tried to squeeze out a few more drops of work while I was playing with my dear friend {her blog}! I know I sound like the bad guy here, but omg we had a great time. The girls danced in the parking lot & I measured as fast as I could!  I found each of my clients something purdy!  Everytime I go I'm  in heaven...

 

Then off to our next destination...  Lala in Laguna Beach. They were having a Labor Day weekend SALE. Oh did I get some good stuff! I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I'm there...  I would definitely stop by if you can. It's such an inviting, colorful & extremely friendly boutique.

 

 

The sun was setting... Our mini Blue Jean Jacket gang were starting to get restless...  So it was only fair that we treated them to some pizza before the night was over!

I'm not going to complain at all... The multi tasking did pay off! I'm happy & they're happy!  Oh what a day!
