it's time...

 

 

The time has finally come to let you all in on a decision that we have been discussing for the past few months at the Rustic Rooster. We have decided to close the storefront and to focus exclusively on our interior design services.

 

My Mom and I have been business partners for 15 years...  And I wouldn't have changed that for the world!  But, now the time has come for mom to retire... She wants to enjoy her grandchildren and do whatever, whenever she pleases! This has been a difficult decision because we started the business together and have enjoyed every step of the way as a team! Our retail store has had an extremely successful run for 15 years, but now that I will be on my own I have decided to focus solely on my interior design.

 

The Rustic Rooster will still be very much alive... With the design studio, my blog and the furniture re-paint business. John is still available to do his magic on your furniture. E-mail the Rustic Rooster at info@rusticrooster.com for a paint quote.   

 

You can expect changes to the website soon to include an online store that will sell many of the things that you have come to expect from the store and some fun finds by mom, "during her free time".  Please continue to follow us on Rustic Rooster Facebook, Instagram and Houzz.   I'm not going anywhere...

 

Yes, this change is huge... But change is a good thing. I'm ok knowing that a new business will be in “my” cute little cottage. It's ok! As my father always said, if you’re frustrated, scared, angry... Or can't find the answers... Go for a run! I know I don't have all the answers... But, who does? Thank goodness I have the most incredible and supportive family that has inspired and encouraged me to continue with this dream without mom. Plus, you might see me running on the coast trying to gather my thoughts! Honk and say HI!!!     

 

So now that you all know... We are getting ready for a HUGE CLOSEOUT SALE. Stay tuned!!!

 

We have enjoyed each and every one of you that has come into the Rooster or followed us on social media... Because of all of you we have been so successful for all those years! Thank you so much... Please stop by to say goodbye and learn about the next chapter of the Rustic Rooster!

Ok... So what do you all think?

With this project I was totally on cloud nine... I had so much fun with this client. No joke from the minute I walked into a meeting with her... I was laughing the entire time! Truth!!! For those of you who know me well... I definitely like a good laugh!!!!   By the end of each meeting we were BFF's.  Oh how I miss my BFF!!! Mary Jane thank you... You're the best!!! 

Now back to this job... Everything except the piano, 2 bookcases and 2 chairs {which I re-structured and had slipcovered} were from my clients own personal collection. I did a "huge" wild card in this room... Actually 2.  Do you know what they are? Hmmmm... I'll let you guess!!! Please let me know... {smile}

Let's dance the night away! Don't you feel like just dressing up and having a fancy dinner party? Right now I really want too... I want to dance and laugh the night away! I go through times when I just want to get fancy... Don't get me wrong I love lounging in my PJ's and cuddling with my kiddos on the couch {shhhhh that's my all time  favorite}! So guess what... Stand up and start planning! You deserve it! Just promise me one thing, don't forget to get fancy {wink}!!!

This job was absolutely perfect! Another start from scratch... Definitely my favorite kind of project!!! Remember this {living room} I showed you the before and afters... Well, this is the same house. I adored working with this family in La Jolla.    

I started out by having the fireplace brick painted white... The room needed a clean and continuous feeling. The minute we did just that the room became very open and alive.   

My clients wanted this room to be extremely comfortable for family and friends to sit and enjoy TV while dinner is being made. I designed the room around a custom sofa/chaise. I wanted people to be able lounge and relax when no one was at home on the chaise, but if friends were coming over they still had more seating. It worked out perfectly!!!!      

I picked a fabric for the sofa that was a commercial grade because of all the wear and tear that it would be enduring {grandkids and friends... lol}. You literally could pick this piece up and put it into a hotel lobby... And still look fabulous after all the guests lounged, jumped, drooled and simply sat on it for long periods of time. Through many trials and errors with interior design I have learned  that longevity is the key for the amount of money my clients are spending.  It's so important to think ahead... Especially when we're customizing each and every piece in their home. You want everything to last... And look fabulous! 

Coastal colors mixed in with comfortable sand tones blended so well together which helped coordinate the rest of the house very nicely.  I mixed in a custom jute rug and an old pine wood coffee table for more texture and warmth. I love this combination...  

 

After all the major pieces were finalized I worked my magic and surprised my clients with the rest of the accessories. I had so much fun finishing off the room without them knowing what I was going to put in {sneaky}.

Of course I added my signature blue and white classic Asian pottery and a slipcovered white wingback. Hello, I couldn't resist! This wingback is the perfect chair for the quiet reader who needs some alone time. A definite must in any family room...

So all in all... I give this project an A+! What do you think? I would love your feed back....
