As I looked around our showroom today I couldn't help but notice all of the bamboo that we have. Hmmmm... I wonder if I have a problem?!?! I love the look, the lines, the texture, the style... I just {LOVE} bamboo!

big girl request {interior design}

When you get a call from a client that needs to change her sweet baby girl's room to a big girl's room you don't hesitate one bit! Changing a room to reflect the growth of a child is so much fun because it hits home to me... I have a little girl growing like a weed! This project was so much fun for me... Hello pops of pink, blankets of turquoise, vibrant yellow mixed in with watermelon splashes! Now that's a little girl's room... Lucky!

 

Taking a crib out of a room for a child can be a big deal. That's all they know! So when you do so, you need to make the next transition be very fun for them. Distract the little one with colors and fluffy pillows, new night stands, chalkboard walls, vintage mirrors, custom silhouettes and a big poof ball... Oh my! The moment you do that the child will never remember their crib again. All they'll want to do is get in the big kid bed! Get them involved so they feel a part of their new room. Believe me that helps a lot... Of course you get the final say {smile}!

    

Just remember... Because your child is growing up that doesn't mean you can't have fun! Enjoy life with your little one!!! Shhhh maybe it's your time to bring out your inner wild side. lol

oh what a feeling...

 

 

I've really started realizing my distinct style lately. I know I'm getting older... But,  am I maturing more and more these days {wink}? Well, what ever it is I'm not going to fight it! Now that 2013 is here I want to really start honing in on my style or craft, as I should say... I try and try to get all trendy, but it doesn't work for me. I like the long haul in interior design. Something that's going to last and stay in the family forever. Do you get that way? Do you tend to go back to your classics? Just like your little black classic cocktail dress. You always go back to it and it lasts forever!  Hope I don't sound like a broken record to you all... I feel it's true in my heart and soul.  I've signed a few new clients that have inspired me to stay true to my roots. There is one in particular, a new client in Coronado, who has me giddy because she's exactly what I love. She loves the direction and I love the direction we're going in... Keeping all the classic elements are key in making your surroundings lasting. Remember you're investing in a room that you will have for a long time. Do it right! All these pictures above feel so good to me. They're extremely comforting. I want to make 2013 perfect for all of my clients! I feel like I'm on the right track... Oh I just LOVE that feeling!

4. 3. 2. 1...

OH what a year... 2012 has been amazing for the rustic rooster! As I look back and reminisce of the good times... All I can do is smile ear to ear. My grandmother turned 100 years old and is till kicking butt {love her}! Mom and I have been truly blessed with 2 new fabulous employees at the rooster, Natasha and Melissa. The vibe and work production in 2012 has absolutely blown us away. We've grown our accessories like no other. We've added new furniture to the rooster family that has been selling like hot cakes. Our custom furniture  designs have brought so much joy to all of our customers and clients. Yes! I could go on and on with 2012 accomplishments, but I don't want to bore you... Now to the good stuff... 2013!
This is going to be the year of growth and change! After heavy conversation we're going to be re-opening up our online shopping cart again. The demand to ship our furniture and accessories all over the state in 2012 has got us thinking... It's time to re-open this little guy I've worked so hard on for years and spent a lot of money on.  Now with all of the wonderful man power we can actually stay on top of things!  Next on our new 2013 jump is moving our interior design office to a bigger space. Don't get too excited... It's just a room over {chuckle}. With the all of our new and amazing clients we need more space for them. We also need to make room for a bigger sourcing library. Getting out of the office and traveling more is on the list of to-do's this year as well... It's been hard with 2 kids. Now I think I can manage it once a week. I truly cant wait. Plus, the rooster is growing up a little...  The rustic rooster is entering into our 13th year of business so we've changed a few things with our logo... etc. Keep watching our growth. It's fun! Just wait till you see our new  custom exterior sign shipped all the way from the east coast.  Thank you all for supporting the rustic rooster... We couldn't have done it without you. 2013 looks so bright and exciting!!! If you have any ideas or suggestions please do not hesitate to tell us! We love hearing from all of you! Thank you again... lazy day

So you really want to know what I'm doing today! OK, I'll let you know... Absolutely nothing and I'm loving it!

It feels so good to sit by my fireplace and stare at my little ones stockings. I know they have to come down soon... But it just warms my heart to know they get such a thrill hanging them up every year in anticipation that Santa Clause will fill them. I've needed to take a moment to relax and just enjoy the little things in my life. My kids are growing so fast. I wish they would stop! I know you all understand... Why can't someone invent a drink to stop them from growing {wink}!  

I did buy myself a Christmas present the other day... Yup, just for me! Every time I would walk into Anthropology, Target, Barnes and Nobles this one book would stare right at me. OK Target made me buy it... The Happiness Project. Have you heard of it? Of course I'm happy, but who doesn't want to be happier. I do! I love challenging myself to different things in life. It's a new year so I need a new goal... Happiness Project bring it on!
