tbt {family}

 {Marblehead, Massachusetts - 2007}

 {San Diego, California - 2014}

OK... I just adore these two little girls!!!!! They're truly inseparable cousins! No joke... Taylor and Gwyneth eat, sleep and breath each other daily! When are family went through its rough time these little girls formed a bond that is so beautiful and strong... I actually envy them. They laugh all day long, smile from ear to ear when they see each other and care so deeply for each other. Best Friends are the greatest gift! I'm so happy that they're cousins too... The goodness that these little girls have inside their hearts is amazing... They help each other and strengthen each other when they've had a rough day. I love hearing their little conversations... I smile from ear to ear with these angels!

simply fancy {interior design}

I don't know about you... But I think this layout is pretty grown up. I absolutely love the look... Hmmmm I wonder if my children could pull it off. Ryan would automatically be caged in his room.  Taylor on the other hand could fit the part and roam freely about. She actually would be my clean cop! Get off that couch... STOP, take your shoes off... NO sitting on that chair... I'm telling mom! God, I love that girl {lol}!  This simply fancy look makes me want to have a grand dinner party and re-decorate everything... Actually it makes me want to move back east {don't ask}! OK I'll let you all know... I'm almost to my 40's... I said it, almost! OMG!  So I'm at a different stage in my life... Career change,  dinner parties with dear friends,  planning fun travel adventures, to future investments for my children. Don't laugh... But I think of these things often!  My style has been changing and getting a little more sophisticated lately. Is it my age? Is it the stage of life I'm in? Hmmm or am I just plain growing up?!?! I enjoy simplicity versus un-necessary clutter. I would rather wait for the perfect piece of furniture than buy to buy. I actually tell my clients that... Wait for that perfect piece because it should be an investment not a temporary fix.  Ahhhh so many little rules in life! Yes, of course do what you want... But think of your future. I just purchased a stunning antique hutch recently... I'm in heaven. Waiting for this pieces has brought me joy and I know one day my children will thank me when I pass it down to them...  It's the little things that make me happy now!!!  So simply fancy I open my arms to you... And embrace you! You are stunning and fabulous!!! Welcome to my life... Maybe when I'm 40 i'll truly let you in my home!

how do you do it...

The right ingredients in a life is huge! Of course their are so many different directions to go in. Some days I think I have it down pat... Other days I wonder if my head is even screwed on correctly {lol}. Being a mother of 2 children and a business owner... The juggle is slightly awkward. I'm not complaining at all because I am truly blessed to be able to be with my kids at any given moment of the day, but then do exactly what I love to do, Interior Design. How do working moms do it, stay happy {life & love} and have a social life on top of it all? I need and want to be more organized... I do look at my friends and envy their organization {tina, i'm talking about you... smile}. I've started getting more strict with that, but of course fall off the bandwagon once in a while. I wear so many different hats at my office that all of a sudden my 8:30am to 9:00am social media commitment goes to the way side because I get a phone call that's urgent or a customer wants guidance with a sofa order, so I need to stop my 10:00am to 11:00am answer all email schedule!  Arghhhh it's so frustrating to me! Then the part I have a hard time with is as well is one day a child gets sick and I need to stay home with them. So being very organized is good in theory, but doesn't always work especially for moms {me}. Are men lucky, do the wives take care of it all {and do it all}? Hmmmmm Moms, how do you all do it... I just love hearing what you do {no joke}.  I'm not saying I don't like spending time with my kids... I actually am obsessed with it, but do love to get away from them at times. I just need to learn how to juggle and do it gracefully! Maybe one day I will! Please tell me books, calendars, schedules... Anything that has helped you in my situation. I'm so open and honest I love any kind of feedback! Plus, Please don't think all moms are like me that own a business and have kids. I'm only speaking for myself...

millwork {interior design}

I had a dream of painting all the millwork in my house last night... I woke up wanting a change. Something refreshing and new. As of right now all my millwork is semi-gloss white. It's stunning but, for some  reason the painted woodwork spoke to me. It seems so smart and elegant. Aren't dreams fascinating? I also dreamed I had another baby {no, I'm not pregnant}! So if you're a dream interpreter... Please translate!

so many choices {interior design}

Ok... Here's the truth, I'm such a sucker for a pretty bathroom! Maybe because I love taking showers {don't ask... lol}.  OMG, I wonder if I've become a bathroom snob. Walking into a beautifully decorated bathroom always brings a huge smile to my face... From the mirrors, artwork, towels,  lighting and even the tile. I feel you can pull a bathroom together very easily.  Even if you don't have an endless budget, you can still coordinate, simplify {throw all the extra junk and mixed match towels out} and make your bathroom look stunning. I'm in the process of starting a remodel with an old client in Del Mar... So of course bathrooms have been on my mind even more lately. I'm fortunate enough I don't have a budget, so I can create anything I would like. What I do in those situations is, pretend I'm moving in {wink}. After I narrow down the look... We then play and have fun with accessories! Designing any room in your house should be fun! I think people forget that putting too much stress on themselves during this process can only make your remodel harder. Sit back... Relax and smile! Just think you can sit in your bathroom when it's all done and enjoy! It will be well worth the wait!!! What style of bathroom do you like... Dark, light, wallpapered, tiled... What?!?!?! Are you a closet bathroom snob like me {hahahaha}?

taylor chair

{Taylor chair}

So it all started at my house... I had an oversized English rolled arm slipcovered chair. The attention that this chair received was amazing from my friends! So naturally as a business woman I decided to have the chair copied and made for the rustic rooster. Once the copy was delivered to the rooster we were in love!!!! It was perfect... Next step was to name it of course!  After thinking long and hard It came to me... I was going to name it after my baby girl, Taylor! So that's how the Taylor chair was born! It's so cute to see Miss Taylor glow with pride over her chair... She asked me to take a picture of her sitting on it.  Isn't she a cutie!!!!

trick 'r treat

o.m.g. halloween is fast approaching us! As my kids would tell me, mom we have exactly 16 days till halloween! Countdown is on in the Scully household! This year I got so lucky with my kids costumes... Walked into Marshall's of all places and bamn... I found a costume for each kid and to seal the deal Ryan didn't even try his on. Took it home and he loved it! Yes... One less battle to fight {thank god}! So thank you Marshall's for the amazing and awesome costumes for such great prices. Now it's onto making the kids cute little treats for the night {i love surprising them} and getting ready at the rooster... I think we're going to be open for a few hours and then close so mom and I can Trick 'r Treat with my kids. What are you all doing on Halloween? We're walking Encinitas old historic highway 101... It's so fun and very safe. Hope to see some of you!!!!

one day

I'll take one of each please... I've been dreaming of a fabulous garden lately. With Southern California's drought and my black thumb... My gardening future isn't looking so good. Lets just say, I wouldn't make in the landscape industry. I know what I want, but the maintenance and upkeep really throw me off. I try to talk to my flowers, see them every night and sprinkle them which cool refreshing water... I think I'm actually drowning them and talking their leaves off! I go to client's homes and see their gorgeous gardens and beautiful flower clippings in their kitchen.  Yes, my clippings are in the trash because they were dry and brittle. Can someone help me?!?!?! I want a pretty garden... Ok Let me stop some of you in your tracks, I do not like succulents. Sorry, I'm a white cabbage rose, boxwood hedges and rosemary girl. I love lushious and green gardens... Nothing dry and rubbery. Sorry Nick I know you love that look. I'm not saying anything is wrong with that, but it's just not me. I like to garden... Maybe one day I'll get the hang of it! One day!

perfect pairing

Oh my... These photos bring me to my happy place! I could stare at them all day long {no joke}!  Styling a home is such a fun commitment! Every corner that you turn in design, can be extremely inviting and adventurous. The exterior, flowers, fabric, lighting and even all your accessories can make a huge statement. I enjoy what I do very much... OK I actually pretend I live in my clients homes... I ask myself all the time What would I like? What would I want? What would I do? Do you see the repeating pattern here... Me, me, me! {wink} So in a nutshell I will be living in your home... {just kidding}. Hope you enjoy my perfect paring for this fine Friday!  I'm drooling over it all! What do you think... Drool or not to drool?!?!?!

enjoy
