you have a chance...

So do you know Adrianne Smith Floral Design? NO... What!?!?!? OK... Let me tell you a little about her. Adrianne happens to be one of the most talented florist out there. I've know her for about 14 years and I kid you not everything that she has ever designed for her clients {including myself} has been stunning. She's not your average florist that does the run of the mill arrangements... She crates and fascinates her clients. Adrianne's arrangements have a touch of class and style that no one else can mimic! My jaw always drops and I'm instantly glowing with happiness when I see her work...

At our little party at the rustic rooster this Thursday night... One lucky person will win a gorgeous arrangement from Adrianne {please let it be me}... All you need to do is show up,  have fun, have a drink and write you rname down... You then have a chance to WIN!!!!

Hope to see you this Thursday at our party!!!

rustic rooster {menu}

I have a sick little baby girl at home today... Of course I'm going to make her Chicken and Rice soup! Who doesn't like soup when they're sick... Poor baby! Hope you all are well... Eat clean and drink tons of water with lemon!!!!! Enjoy this recipe...

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 whole chicken (3 to 4 pounds), skin removed
  • 1 1/2 pounds (9 to 10 medium) carrots, peeled and halved crosswise
  • 1 pound (5 to 6 medium) parsnips, peeled and halved crosswise
  • celery stalks, thinly sliced crosswise
  • 2 large onions (about 1 pound), halved and sliced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • garlic cloves, smashed
  • 1 tablespoon whole peppercorns
  • Coarse salt
  • 1 1/2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 6 scallions, white and green parts separated and thinly sliced

DIRECTIONS

  1. STEP 1

In a large soup pot, combine chicken, carrotsparsnipscelery, onions, bay leaves, garlic, peppercorns, and 1 teaspoon coarse salt. Add water to cover by 2 inches. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium. Simmer partly covered, occasionally skimming and discarding fat from surface, about 1 hour.
  2. STEP 2

With a slotted spoon or tongs, remove chicken, carrots, andparsnips from pot; set aside. Pour remaining contents of pot through a fine-mesh sieve into another large pot; discard solids, and bring broth to a boil. Add rice and white part of scallions. Reduce heat to medium, and simmer, uncovered, until rice is tender, about 20 minutes.
  3. STEP 3

Meanwhile, remove chicken from bones, and shred into bite-size pieces (discard any fatty or discolored parts). Cut carrots and parsnips into bite-size pieces. When rice is cooked, return chicken, carrots, and parsnips to broth in pot; add green part of scallions. Season generously with 5 to 6 teaspoons coarse salt.

less is best

Trying to set the scene for a dinner party can either be extremely stressful or so very easy! You have many different layers to think of... What are you going to wear? Where are you going to have the dinner party... Outside or inside? What am I going to serve? Those are all very important questions to start with... Of course that take time to figure out. Then on top of everything you need to set it all up... OMG just typing this is stressing me out {smile}! As a designer all of these details are huge in my eyes... But one thing I can assure you, is to go simple and classic and you can never fail!  My mother used to always say to me as I was growing up... " Do not gild a lily! Less is best... Your beauty will shine when people can actually see you or what you are trying to accomplish." Elegance should be very smooth and easy. If you're struggle with it... Stop and reassess everything! You can do it...  That's my designer dinner party advise for the day!
