change

Ahhh good times... I'm in the process of re-doing the rustic rooster's website. I have a love hate with  it. I want it super simple, but extremely informative! I know I need to add so much more... And remove so much more!  Here's the beginning new stages of a cleaner and more simple website...
OK.. I do have a few questions to ask you all:

1.) What do you hate most about websites?
2.) What do you wish more websites had?
3.) Tell me likes and dislikes about my website... PLEASE!!!!!
{I will not take it personally at all}

Can't wait to show you all... Hopefully soon!

crossed over

First, off I've been avoiding something to tell you. I'm just going to go ahead and say it... I turned 40 over the weekend. OMG I was so scared. I did the typical avoidance and look the other way. Trying to pretend it wasn't coming. Well, it happened! I was nervous... I've got to say I feel pretty good today {hahaha}. I still have my hearing and my vision is 20/20 so I guess I'm pretty lucky... Ok 40 bring it on!

{40th Birthday weekend... Puesto, Downtown SD}

My family is unbelievably amazing! I know people might think I'm crazy for saying this, but If their were unicorns in the world I would've had them in my backyard growing up. My family has stood by my side through think and thin. They support and love me unconditional. I have always had such a good relation ship with everyone... I do have to say I am truly blessed! Thank God! I want to thank them for helping me cross over to the geriatric side. Carmel, I will never let that go... Love you to pieces! My children planned my birthday weekend {with my mom, brother and sister-in-law}... Which made it even more special for me. I am truly indebted to these angels for life! Thank you Taylor and Ryan, mom loves you with all my heart! Now in my 40's I want to focus on my children, traveling and my career! Life is too short for negativity or to be held back... I look forward to my future! Hello 40!

uniform

Fall is definitely around the corner...  I felt it last night. The crisp air was so nice after the insane heat wave we've had here in San Diego. Has anyone else's hair been as bad as mine... I swear all I've been able to do is just throw it up in a top bun and go. Super easy, but I started getting headaches from pulling my hair up all day. Good times!  Now on another note,  I'm ready to throw on some jeans with true ease... Not like Ross from friends putting leather pants on {remember that episode... too funny}. OMG I swear these last few weeks have been hysterical for me. The hair and full freak out getting jeans on. Not going to lie their were days I thought I was gaining tons of weight and was going to just wear a mumu all day long {shhh I kind of did}.  The struggle is so real... Hopefully with the cooler weather the truth will come out. Being a girl is so hard! hahaha Ok I'll go back to my topic... {wink} After doing my daily Jcrew check in... I've decided that I would like to wear more collared shirts. Seriously if you looked in my closet you would think I was working in corporate America. I have tons of button up shirts.   So this year is going to be a dress shirts with jeans kind of year. I adore that look... So professional, but still causal. Ok weather when you officially switch to fall I will get my new uniform on. Do you have a uniform? What is it...

tin roof loving...

My brother and his wife are going to be starting a remodel soon. They're going to do something absolutely genius, build a guest house first so they can make all their mistakes {if they make any} on that house... And then tackle the main home. This above picture is their dream style... Board and batt with a tin roof! I'm drooling... Love!!! I can't wait to help them!

i can still hear you...

I will never forget her! She had a voice that was strong, captivating and oh so beautiful! As a child I would sit mesmerized listening to her read to me in the library at Campbell Hall. Years later during my college days I was working on the Cape at Chatham Bars Inn... Haven't seen her in ages. As I stood talking to a guest, I heard her... I turned very slowly. I knew that voice... I was flooded with every childhood memory possible. It was like an angel had entered the room... It WAS Mrs. Angell. I ran over to her like I was back in kindergarten. Threw my arms around her and gave her a big hug! Oh Mrs. Angell you are very missed! I know in heaven you're captivating everyone with your beautiful voice!  Mrs. Angell and her husband were returning home to Los Angeles from a wedding on the Cape on 9/11... When their plane was hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center. We will always remember and honor you... Rest in peace!

old + new

Every designer has their specialty. I think that's what makes each one of us so desirable {wink} in this industry! If we were all the same... How boring would that be. For example, I love taking something old and transforming it into something new. I know a lot of people rather start from scratch and completely gut a home. I enjoy that too... But looking at a space and pumping new life into it is so challenging for me. New trim, new floors, new lighting... To new paint color. Just those little things can make such a huge difference! Take a peek at a home I transformed in North county. It was a 1950's ranch style. We took each room and just updated them... I can't even tell you how amazing it looks in person.

Remember you can always start small... The little things make such a huge difference! I know you want to redo your home all at once... But sometimes the budget or being overwhelmed doesn't allow you too. That's ok! Go slow and enjoy the process. You will love transforming your home when you think about each step. I can't do everything at once, but when I realize what I want to do I make a list and check everything off one by one... That keeps me sane {and my wallet intact}.  Remember to have fun when you're renovating your home! Their are more important things in life to worry about than a paint color! Have fun!!!!
