guess what

I can't even tell you how excited we all are right now... The roosters gotta chicken coop!!! Mom & I have been toying with the idea of getting a chicken coop for a few years now. I will admit I was the one sitting on the fence... Shhh I'm kind of scared to hold a chicken. Everyone laughed at me, called me names, stared at me & said, get over it! OK... Now I'm excited! We finally made the decision right before our Christmas vacation & placed the order. Now baby chicks are on order! Ready for this they're being mailed to us. They're fine & protected in transit. Believe me I was a little shocked that they do that & nervous for the chicks. They get a blanket & food on Air chick! lol Here's where my real thrill comes in... Everyone big {adults} or small {kids} get to watch these baby chicks grow up with us. Oh my... This is going to be such a new & exciting adventure... So the moment the baby chicks arrive & the fence is put in I'll let you all know. Of course you're more than welcome to check out the assembled coop on our side yard. Just ask & well point you in the right direction. Get ready for another new & exciting adventure with the rustic rooster!

  1. so fun!! You can have chickens in Encinitas? My daughter's class raised baby chicks in 2nd grade and she fell in love. She cried when they had to give the chickens to the farmer.

  4. Congratulations! We love having chickens. It is a lot of cleanup but super rewarding. The more you handle them as chicks the friendlier they will be as adults.

FYI- Chickens can fly! We keep our chickens wings clipped so they don't end up in the neighbors yard with their bird hunting dog.

Let me know if you have any questions. I too was scared sh****#ess when I first got them.
